On May 1, investors and stakeholders gathered at Tonsley Innovation District for the 2025 Micro-X Investor Open Day - a behind-the-scenes look at the next generation of X-ray imaging innovation. With exclusive access to our core manufacturing and development facilities, guests saw firsthand how Micro-X is revolutionising diagnostic and security imaging through proprietary, Australian-developed technology.

The highlight of the day was a compelling presentation by Chief Operating Officer Anthony Skeats, who detailed how Micro-X’s full technology stack integrates to produce world-leading high-voltage imaging performance. For those who couldn’t attend in person, you can now watch the full presentation online.

A Deep Dive Into Game-Changing X-ray Technology

In his address, Anthony explained how Micro-X’s unique, vertically integrated approach combines several proprietary components into one powerful imaging platform:

  • NEX Technology Carbon Nanotube X-ray Emitters – our core innovation that enables rapid, digital control and compact X-ray system design
  • Solid-State High Voltage Generators – precision-engineered in-house to reduce size, weight, and complexity, enabling high-voltage generation in a smaller form factor
  • High-Voltage Electronic Switching – enabling ultra-fast electronically controlled switching for multi-tube CT arrays and complex imaging sequences

This integration unlocks new possibilities in both medical and security imaging applications, offering unprecedented mobility, speed, and control.

Seeing is Believing: CT Imaging Breakthroughs

During his presentation, Anthony showed the latest CT images captured by the Micro-X Head CT test bench. These images already surpass those produced by current mobile stroke units in use today — a powerful validation of our next-generation scanner currently under development. Imaging captured through the Head CT test bench continues to be advanced to achieve clinical acceptance by the Australian Stroke Alliance.

The Head CT, which is the world’s first truly mobile stroke CT, is designed to be compact enough for standard ambulances and retrieval aircraft, bringing brain imaging to the patient and reducing critical time to diagnosis. A full-size model of the unit was on display at the open day alongside the test bench being finalised for hospital human imaging trials.

Facility Tours: Innovation at Every Stage

Attendees were taken on guided tours through Micro-X’s purpose-built facilities, including:

  • The core technology building, where we manufacture NEX Technology X-ray tubes, high-voltage generators, switching electronics, and custom imaging chains.
  • A clinical demo zone showcasing how the Rover Plus Mobile DR X-ray is used in real-world hospital scenarios.
  • A look at the Miniature Baggage CT Scanner and a full-size engineering test rig of the Passenger Checkpoint — a new passenger security screening experience under development for airports.
  • A showcase of the first Head CT test bench, and a look 'under the hood' at its unique array design and switching technology.

Experience the Future of X-ray

The Investor Open Day was a powerful reminder of Micro-X’s commitment to delivering next-generation imaging solutions through cutting-edge Australian innovation. With breakthroughs in CT imaging, mobile diagnostics, and security screening, Micro-X is poised to reshape multiple global industries.
